Alveolitis in orthopaedic surgeons

Do you know anything about HP/EAA in orthopaedic surgeons.I can’t find much on the net? He has had clear cut HP and on this occasion responded well to steroids. He may well have had a previous episode when he also went on Christmas holiday

Most alveolitis is due to biological agents, improving on holiday may be the result of avoiding antigens in the home, particularly birds and moulds. Alveolitis or humidifier fever has been reporting in operating theatres due to a contaminated humidifier, acrylates have caused asthma in dentists and perhaps alveolitis in photocopier workers, alveolitis in dentists have been caused by moulds and fungae, mostly from the building structure. Orthopaedic support bandages must be a remote possibility, alveolitis has been causes by esparto grass incorporated into some support bandages, some also contain isocyanates, which are a fairly well recognised cause of alveolitis but not as far asd I know not from support bandages. Waterproofing sprays are also an interesting possibility, I dont know whether they are used in theatres but are the sort of thing that might be applied to the skin.
