Anti-IgE effective in mouse model of persulphate asthma |
|
Omalizumab treatment for patients with occupational asthma has provided benefit for a small number of patients with high molecular weight occupational asthma, but has not helped in 4 workers with low molecular weight agents (isocyanate and acrylate). There is some controversy in the role of IgE antibodies in workers sensitised to persulphates. A new study in mice has shown reduced asthma features in mice dermally sensitised to persulphates and then treated with anti-mouse IgE before nasal challenge with persulphates. A trial in man (or woman) is now warranted.
