Refuse collectors, recyclers and composters have an increased risk of occupational asthma and alveolitis. There a few reports of occupational allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. The attached paper reports 2 cases, other reports are attached

This is no surprise, though I would disagree with the comment below that implies it can't be managed satisfactorily. See Seaton A et al Quart J Med 1994;87:529-37. As for understanding the reasons A fumigatus behaves like this, see Seaton A and Robertson M, Lancet 1989;i:893-4. Old they may be but still valid!
