Abstract

Two patients are described who suffered from bronchiolitis following the inhalation of nitrous fumes. In one instance, death occurred 14 days
after exposure from a generalized obliterative bronchiolitis. The other patient recovered completely after a period of intense dyspnoea and cyanosis. A brief account is given of some of the known occupational hazards. In view of the extensive use of nitric acid in industry, it seems likely that accidents will continue to occur.
