In 'sick building syndrome' and other questionable environmental conditions, it is important to consider eye troubles. This review deals with several objective methods relevant for pollution keratoconjunctivitis. A hypothesis is put forward: A reduced lipid layer of the tear film causes reduced break-up time, increased vital staining and increased number of cells in the conjunctival fluid
