Oasys wins BTS Silver Jubilee Award (2007) |
|
The Oasys program won the BTS Silver Jubilee Award for "Innovation in the secondary respiratory care setting in the lung function laboratory" from the British Thoracic Society on December 4 2007.
The basic version of the Oasys program is currently available free of charge to anyone who requests it. It can easily be implemented into lung function laboratories and is a quick and easy tool to use. It is constantly being updated and developed to keep up with new technology available.
This award raises the profile of Oasys and we are hopeful it can be embedded into the ARTP (Association of Respiratory Technicians and Physiologists - UK) standards of lung function testing. This should make Oasys more widely used within the UK and improve the reach of the improved occupational asthma diagnostics that it provides. It is estimated that work contributes to roughly 1 in 10 patients with adult onset asthma. The more widespread use of Oasys should provide a very real benefit to these patients.

Prof Burge talks to Sue Hill about Oasys at the award ceremony.
We would like to thank the British Thoracic Society for this award and all the prestige and opportunities that it brings. The award ceremony took place during the presidents reception at the Winter Meeting and was a wonderful event which we shall all remember.
Unfortunately The British Thoracic Society has removed information about the awards from their website.
