Incidence of occupational asthma due to metal-working fluids from the Finnish registry |
|
29 workers with occupational asthma, one with allergic alveolitis and 4 with occupational rhinitis are reported between 1992 and 2001. Challenges appear to include only unused metal-working fluid heated to 40 oC in a dish (no aerosolisation). I wonder whether other cases were missed as at least in the UK most cases seem to be due to used MWF and aerosolisation is needed to illicit reactions during specific challenges.
