Most workers with occupational asthma do not make a complete recovery after complete removal from the causative agent. This is the first published systematic review of the literature. The results are inhomogenious, leading the authors to be tentative in their conclusions that 70% remain symptomatic at follow-up. Shorter exposure, a low molecular weight agent and younger age were associated with a better prognosis.
