Occupational laryngitis may precede occupational asthma

Occupational laryngitis may precede occupational asthma
6/13 workers with work related hoarseness of the voice confirmed during specific challenge developed occupational asthma over the next 12 years. Many have specific IgE to the causative agent. Laryngitis as well as rhinitis may precede occupational asthma. Voice changes are not necessarily a barrier to the diagnosis of occupational asthma as suggested in some algorithms.
