We have seen a number of workers with symptoms suggestive of occupational asthma and positive peak flow records who work in large warehouses without exposure to obvious causes of occupational asthma. Many are exposed to dust, particularly cardboard dust (a wood-derived product), some are exposed to diesel exhaust either from delivery vehicles or from fork-lift trucks, and some to condensate from chillers which might be inaccesibly high above the workers. Whether there is a specific cause for their asthma remains unclear.
