Trouble installing Oasys
Hi Cedd / colleagues
Thanks for sending me the beta version- my old PC hard drive crashed with my last version. Unfortunately I can't get the setup programme to do anything: I have successfully renamed it from .doc to exe.

Sometimes when renaming the file it can become setup.exe.doc, so that windows still thinks it is a word document instead of a program. The file "instructions.doc" (which you should have received along with the program) has more instructions on this.
Open up "My Computer", click on "Tools - Folder Options", click on the "View" tab and make sure that "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked. Then rename the file again and make sure it ends up as setup.exe.
If this still doesn't work then please let me know.

Still no success. Setup is recognised as a programme but I either get a message back saying installation not complete or nothing happens. I've tried this on my PC at work with the same result.

Hmmmm. It's hard to know what's wrong without actually being there. If you are using Windows Vista then there may be an issue with Security. Oasys installs to C:\Oasys by default which Vista may have a problem with. Also, Vista has options for running programs in various compatibility modes. You could try tinkering with these.
Following is a method that will definitely work but is a bit cumbersome.
You should have the following files:
OGRAPH.EX_
DECISION.DT_
1.OD_
DA1.OD_
NSHELL2.DL_
RANGE.DTA
Manual.doc
Create a new folder, say "C:\Program Files\Oasys"
Copy all the files to this folder
Rename:
OGRAPH.EX_ to OGRAPH.EXE
DECISION.DT_ to DECISION.DTF
1.OD_ to 1.ODF
DA1.OD_ to DA1.ODA
NSHELL2.DL_ to NSHELL2.DLL
Double clicking on ograph.exe should then run Oasys.
