Oasys program help

You send us a copy of your Oasys 2 program for the data capture and interpretation of Serial Peak Flow measurements; however I seem to be battling with it.

The information you sent with the disc seems pretty easily understood, but the Bugs you mention in the system seem to be everywhere.

Please assist, if possible with the following queries as a start:
1. I have entered a clients data into the new file created as suggested, and saved it as an ODF File but cannot find it to open up and continue with data entry
2. On entry of data into the fields, I have entered the Waking; Bed; Start of Work and End of work as actually recorded by the client, but the program keeps telling me it is incorrect, How do I overcome this?
3. How can I manipulate the data to capture actual shifts worked to indicate days worked as opposed to the Monday to Friday as set out in your fields? Is there maybe a check box to simply enter the days worked? (We have a 12 hour shift roster whereby the employees are working 4 twelve hour shifts on “Day / Night” shift followed by a 4 off day period thereafter a for a 5 day / night shift of 12 hours)

Oasys, Specialist, 7/17/2006, 7/17/2006,

I am very sorry you are having so many problems with the Oasys Program. Below are some suggestions. I have also copied our programmer in on the email in case he can help further. Let me know how you get on.

When saving the file, if you click on save as rather than save, you can chose where you want to keep all the files – it is probably best if you create an “oasys files” folder. I store mine on my c drive in a folder named Oasys files. If I then want to open a file I would go to the file, open (in Oasys) and select, in the right-hand column, this folder. I am not sure where Oasys would save the files otherwise – it may just be in c:\ Oasys where the program will have been inserted.
The only reason I can think of that Oasys would tell you the markers are incorrect is if there is one missing. When you have entered the data and you click on the interpret button, it will tell you that incorrect markers will be in bold and will take you to the first incorrect one. The markers need to follow the pattern w, s, e, b so unfortunately you cannot have 2 periods of work in a day without sleeping in the middle, so this may be the problem? Oasys calls any readings within 12 hours of exposure work-related readings when it performs its analysis, therefore if you do have 2 work periods in a day, the best way round it is to call the whole time at work.
By inserting the start work and end work markers, Oasys will analyse the data as you input it, i.e. if you inserted no work markers on Monday and Tuesday then work markers Wednesday- Saturday, then no work markers for 4 days, Oasys will produce a report to reflect this (you will see 2 days off, 4 days at work, 4 days off). Whatever you insert as start and end work markers should correspond with the workers shift pattern and Oasys will analyse it as entered. I hope that makes sense. The program is set up to show Monday-Sunday at a time on the data entry sheet just for ease of knowing which week you are working on.

I am not sure whether we have another person using the program in South Africa, but I will have a look. If you want to send me any odf files so that I can have a look and check you are ok, then please feel free to email me the file at this address.

I hope this helps a little.

Best regards

Vicky
