There was considerable debate about exposures from cutting polyurethane foam. Initially it was thought that all the diisocyanates were polymerised on foaming and not released when cut later. There are unpublished measurements of definite diisocyanate exposure on cutting foam, where unreacted diisocyanates are trapped within the foam structure. The is one publication relating to occupational asthma from cut foam, without specific challenge testing or air measurements
