New highly potent sensitiser for plant husbandry

New highly potent sensitiser for plant husbandry
3-(bromomethyl)-2-chloro-4-methylsulfonyl)-benzoic acid (BCMBA) exposure caused an outbreak of occupational asthma, rhinitis and urticaria in a chemical company where this was an intermediate in plant husbandry. The chemical is a highly potent sensitiser with positive skin prick tests at 0.5% in 3/12 workers  in the production hall, and positive bronchial provocation tests at 0.03-0.3%.
