The SWORD surveillance scheme uses systematic reporting from physicians to provide a picture of the incidence of occupational respiratory disease in the United Kingdom. 40% of cases (1000 annually) are of occupational asthma or inhalation accidents occupational asthma related to a wide range of agents in many occupations.
